On this page you can find more information about our dance workshop styles that are most requested by schools. However all of our workshops are tailor made to each school, so please contact us if you would like a dance style that is not listed here. All of our dance workshops are suitable for EYFS, KS1 and KS2 and many are also suitable for children with special educational needs (SEN). You can choose for the children to perform in a special assembly at the end of the day to showcase what they have learnt.
Swirl Education offer African and Caribbean Dance Workshops to help your school celebrate and learn about black heritage. A professionally trained dancer will come to your school and teach your children African or Caribbean dance as well as little bit about the culture behind each dance. We will teach your children a dance from an African country of your choosing. Alternatively, you may choose to learn Jamaican Dancehall or Caribbean Carnival dance.
Diwali is a big Hindu festival which will next take place on 27th October 2019 this year. Hinduism is the most prominent religion in India. Diwali is a festival which celebrates the victory of good over evil. In your Diwali Dance Workshop, you can choose from the more modern Bollywood style or Traditional Indian Dance. The children will also learn about the Hindu Diwali celebration and the story of Rama and Sita.
Our Chinese dance workshops are a great way to learn about Chinese culture and to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Your dance practitioner will bring with him/her enough colourful ribbons and fans for each child and for your supporting staff as well. Your pupils will learn about China and the Chinese New Year. Then they will be taught traditional ribbon or fan dances, which take place all over China as part of the New Year Celebrations.
Our exciting Latin Dance styles are a great way to tie in with South American topics. Choose from our fun and vibrant styles of Samba, Salsa, Cha-cha-cha, Tango, Rumba and Paso Doble. The children will learn a bit about South America and be able to see its position on the map in comparison to England. Then they will learn a lively dance, which will have them smiling from ear to ear.
Curriculum Based Workshops
Make your curriculum topics come alive with a dance workshop. Our professionally trained dancers will work creativley with your students on your selected themes. Popular topics chosen by some our schools have been the Egyptians, the water cycle, magnets and forces and life cycles. Swirl Education can do a one day dance workshop or weekly sessions to cover PPA and CPD. Curriculum based dance workshops are a great way to enthuse children about schemes of work, they help fitness levels, enhance creativity and support different learning styles.
